    Apparel is the most fixture-dependent category in retail. The same empty shell becomes a fast-fashion floor or a considered contemporary store depending almost entirely on how much of the wall is hanging, how dense the mid-floor is, and where the fitting rooms sit. A render that ignores that is a mood board, not a design.

    Fixture mix is the whole design decision

    Wall runs carry the density; the mid-floor carries the story. Wall systems typically run to about 2.4m with hang rails at roughly 1.1m and 1.7m for double-hang, while mid-floor units stay at or below 1.4m so a customer entering can see the back of the store. Break that sightline rule and the rear third of the shop stops earning — the most expensive mistake in apparel because you pay rent on it either way.

    The face-out to side-hang ratio is the lever nobody outside the trade talks about.     Fitting rooms decide your conversion rate

    A shopper who enters a fitting room converts at a dramatically higher rate than one who does not, which makes the fitting-room block the highest-value square metres in an apparel store and the most commonly mistreated. Individual cubicles want roughly 90cm by 120cm of clear internal space, with at least one accessible cubicle sized for a 150cm turning circle, and the approach needs to be obvious from the sales floor rather than hidden behind stock.

    Put the block where staff can see the queue without the queue blocking circulation, give it a bench, a hook cluster at two heights and a full mirror, and light it properly — this is the one place where bad light loses the sale outright. Front-lit vertical illuminance at around 3000K with a high colour rendering index keeps skin tone and fabric colour honest; a downlight directly overhead does the opposite and is the single most common fitting-room error.

    Lighting, materials and the render you can hand a contractor

    Apparel lighting is about vertical surfaces, not floors. Merchandise walls want strong vertical illuminance so garments read from across the room, with accent contrast on feature bays and a calmer general level between them. Warm-neutral around 3000K suits most fashion; a high colour rendering index matters more than raw brightness, because a customer who dislikes a colour under your light returns the garment bought under it.

    Does the AI understand apparel fixtures specifically?
    Yes. Selecting a clothing or fashion store type brings in the category's fixture vocabulary — wall hang systems, face-outs, rounders, nesting tables and a fitting-room block — instead of the generic shelving a general-purpose image tool defaults to.
    Can I compare a high-density and a premium layout on the same plan?
    That is the most useful thing to do here. Generate one direction described as high-density side-hang and another as premium face-out led, on the same floor plan, and compare them side by side before you commit to a fixture order.
    Will it put the fitting rooms somewhere sensible?
    The AI places them against solid wall away from the shopfront, which is where plumbing-free service blocks belong, and keeps the approach visible from the floor. You can also direct it explicitly — describe where the block should sit and it will respect your plan's constraints.
    What do I need to upload?
