Industrial grocery store interior design · evening

Design notes
- Materials
- Polished concrete, blackened steel and raw timber form a dark, restrained base, so the colourful jars, bags and bottles do the talking.
- Lighting
- Long linear pendants hang low from the roof and small pendants mark the till zone, pulling attention down from the ceiling to the shelves.
- Layout
- Wide, straight aisles run from the entrance to the checkout, and the gaps between gondolas look generous enough for two shoppers with baskets to pass.
- Display
- Dry goods, preserves and drinks are faced in repeating blocks at eye level, which makes each category quick to scan. A chilled wall at the rear gives a destination.
Try this: In a big-volume shell, leave the structure raw but add warm timber at touchpoints such as shelf boards and the checkout, so it still feels like a shop.
